Even though the track is well sign posted, it’s worth taking a copy of the map – just in case. On the map below you can see crossings’ toilets, and knowing where these are will be handy!

You know you’ll be going up, but by how much?
The highest point on the crossing is at the Red Crater, where you will be 1,868 metres above sea level.
You start at 1,120 metres above sea level – so the climb is not insignificant. It’s still manageable for most people, but a little preparation and training before you hike is a good thing.
